Still have questions about NJ Workforce Tuition Waiver Eligibility?

If I qualify for the NJ Workforce Tuition Waiver Eligibility with the Department of Labor or Workforce Development Agency, why can't I automatically enroll in courses?

Approval from the Department of Labor or Workforce Development Agency is only one part of the overall tuition waiver application process. Each New Jersey college or university conducts its own tuition waiver application and review process to ensure that all tuition waiver approvals are in keeping with the state regulation.

When can I register?

You will be permitted to register for courses on or after the third day of classes for the term in which you are receiving the waiver.

For summer or winter sessions, you will be permitted to enroll on the first day of the session you wish to take only. You will not be permitted to register for summer or winter courses before the start of the session you wish to take.

Please visit the summer and winter sessions websites for more information on how to enroll for courses using the tuition waiver program.

For Fall/Spring semesters, you may register on the third day of classes until the final day of the add/drop period, approximately the first week of the Fall or Spring semester. Following the final day of add/drop, you will be ineligible to enroll in courses for the remainder of the semester.

Is there a deadline to register for course(s)?

Yes. You will only be authorized to enroll in an approved course(s) through the final day of the add/drop period, approximately the first week of the fall or spring semester. Following the final day of add/drop, you will be ineligible to enroll in courses for the remainder of the semester.

Note: Summer and winter session tuition waiver registration occurs only on the first day of class.

Can I get a special permission number from the department to enroll in a closed course section?

No. The NJ Workforce Tuition Waiver Eligibility is a space availability program. Therefore, you can only register for those course sections with available seats. You are not eligible for special permission numbers into closed course sections.
